Junior Club - Additional Information and FAQ

About Junior Club

Junior Club is the next step for group-lesson skaters looking to improve their skating. Junior Club provides the opportunity for skaters to train on a full sheet of ice with U.S. Figure Skating credentialed coaches. Coaches will tailor each session to the needs of registered skaters, but each one-hour session will include full-ice power and stroking, a small group lesson and the opportunity to practice individual skills. Individual skills may include stroking, spins and jumps depending on the skater's level.

Skaters registering for Junior Club should be at the Gamma (ISI learn to skate) or Basic 6 (Learn to Skate USA) level, or have permission from a Woodbury Figure Skating Club coach.

Junior Club FAQ

Do I need to be a member of the Woodbury Figure Skating Club (WFSC) to participate in Junior Club?

No. However, participants that are not a WFSC or USFSA member will need to obtain a Learn to Skate USA Membership. These are available for $17 from Learn to Skate USA's website: https://www.learntoskateusa.com/registration
Please note that purchasing a Learn to Skate Membership does not register you for Junior Club - you will also need to complete the full registration and make your session choices here.

Why can I no longer register on the City's website?

The City of Woodbury has reprogrammed the ice-time previously used for Junior Club and will no longer be hosting the Junior Club program. WFSC believes that Junior Club is a valuable program and is excited to continue to offer Junior Club under our umbrella.

When is Junior Club offered and how much does it cost?

Session charges vary based on session length. Specific dates and fees can be found on our main registration page.

Can I come into the rink to assist my skater?

WFSC requires program participants to follow all applicable state mandates, as well as the requirements of M Health Fairview Sports Center. While parents are generally able to assist their children with tying skates, the guidelines are ever changing and can be found here.

What should my skater wear?

Skaters should dress in layers and wear comfortable clothing that they can move freely in. Jeans are not recommended. Properly fitting figure skates (with a toe pick) are required for Junior Club. Skaters 5 years old and under are required to wear helmets, but skaters of all ages are welcome to wear protective head gear.

Help! This is all so confusing. My child just wants to skate and I'm not sure what to register for or where to go from here. Isn't there anyone that can help me?

Navigating the skating world can be confusing at first. If you reach out, we'll be happy to answers any questions you have, or pair you up with another parent that can be a resource and point you in the right direction.
