Volunteer hours are a requirement for all WFSC members. Volunteering may consist of many different activities - rink monitoring, helping with the competition, spring ice show, organizing fundraising efforts, test sessions and serving as a board member too. The club functions by the grace of all these activities - we would all pay much higher rates if we had to cover the cost of having these services done for us so we encourage everyone to help a little more than the basic 10 hour a year requirement - because the club gains that way!
Beginning with the Summer 2011 Ice contracts WFSC has adopted a new rink monitor policy. For each contract that you, or your child, registers for, you must select one date to be rink monitor. (Example: I select three contracts, I must volunteer for at least 3 rink monitor periods).
The dates and specific times are selected on a first to claim basis. A specific Rink Monitor time is selected from the available dates as a "DIBS" item (Displayed on the right side of this page, under the "volunteer" menu of the HOME page, or from the "DIBS" page).
The time that you act as rink monitor counts toward the club required 10 hours of volunteer time. You are not limited to only the number of contracts you skate. (You may still rink monitor to complete all required volunteer hours if periods are available.)
You may select from any available rink monitor session to complete your required rink monitor time(s).
Thanks for making WFSC a great place to skate!
